Privacy notice
Last updated 30 September 2026. The specifics for each client project are agreed in writing before work begins.
Who is responsible
Karma-Tech is run by Chad, based in Cape Town, South Africa, and is responsible for the personal information described here. For anything about your information, contact me on WhatsApp or by phone at +27 68 029 5218, or by email at chad@karmatech.co.za.
What I collect and why
- When you contact me on WhatsApp, by phone or by email, I receive your name, number or email address and whatever you tell me about your business. I use it to reply, prepare a quote and, if you go ahead, deliver and support your project. For visitors in the UK, the lawful basis is my legitimate interest in answering your enquiry, and taking steps at your request before a contract.
- When you visit this website, Vercel Web Analytics counts page views: the page, the site that sent you, and your country, device type and browser. It uses no cookies and does not identify you personally. I use the totals to see which pages are useful (legitimate interest).
- Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser sends your IP address to Google when the page loads.
The optional project brief prepares a message in your browser. Its answers are not saved on this website or sent to its analytics. When you choose WhatsApp or email, those answers are included in a draft for you to review and send in that app. This website has no advertising or tracking cookies and no tracking pixels. I do not sell or share personal information for advertising.
If I emailed you first
I sometimes email jewelry businesses in the UK to offer my services, using the business contact details they publish on their own websites and at Companies House. The outreach privacy notice explains what I keep, why, for how long, and how to stop it: reply “unsubscribe” to any of my emails.
Your customers’ data
If I build or look after a website for you, some of your customers’ information may pass through systems I set up or maintain. You decide how it is used, and I act only on your instructions, under a written agreement that sets out what is handled, by whom, for how long and how it is kept safe. Your store, payment account and customer records stay in your own name. I never receive your customers’ card details or payments.
Who else handles it
These services process information on my behalf, or when you choose to use them:
- Vercel (United States): hosts this website and provides the visit statistics.
- Google (United States): serves the fonts.
- WhatsApp, part of Meta: carries messages you send me on WhatsApp.
International transfers
I work from South Africa, and some of the services above are based in the United States, so your information may be handled outside the country you are in. Where UK data protection law applies, I put an appropriate safeguard in place for those transfers, and for client projects it is agreed with you in writing before work begins.
How long I keep it
I keep enquiry messages and client records only for as long as I need them to reply to you, deliver the work you ask for and meet legal record-keeping requirements such as tax records. After that they are deleted, or as agreed in your project’s written agreement.
Your rights
You can ask what information I hold about you, and ask me to correct or delete it, restrict how it is used, object to its use or give you a copy. Contact me using the details above; I’ll reply within one month.
- In the UK, these rights come from UK GDPR. If you are not happy with my response, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
- In the US, depending on your state, you may have similar rights to know about, correct and delete your information. I extend the same rights to every visitor, wherever you are.
- In South Africa, the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) applies, and you can complain to the Information Regulator at inforegulator.org.za.
Keeping it safe
This website is served only over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Please don’t send passwords, bank details or your customers’ personal information in a first message. We’ll agree a safe way to share anything a project needs.
