Outreach privacy noticeWhy I emailed your business

This notice is for jewellery businesses in the UK that I have contacted by email about enquiry systems, websites and online stores. It explains what I keep about you, where it came from and how to stop hearing from me.

Last updated 13 October 2026

In short

  • What I keep: your business name, a contact name and a business email address.
  • Where it came from: your own website and Companies House.
  • Why: business-to-business outreach, under legitimate interests.
  • To stop: reply “unsubscribe” to any of my emails.

Who I am

I’m Chad, the founder of Karma-Tech (Pty) Ltd, a small studio in Cape Town, South Africa, that sets up enquiry and consultation-booking systems and builds online stores for independent jewellers. Karma-Tech is responsible for the details described here (under UK GDPR, it is the “controller”).

To reach me about your details, email chad@karmatech.co.za, or call or WhatsApp +27 68 029 5218.

What I keep

  • Your business name.
  • A contact name: the person I address the email to.
  • A business email address: the one your business publishes for enquiries.

I also keep a note of when I emailed you and any reply, so that I never contact you twice by mistake or after you’ve said no. I don’t collect personal phone numbers, home addresses or anything sensitive, and I don’t buy or rent contact lists.

Where it came from

  • Your store’s own website: your business name, the email address you publish for enquiries and, where it’s shown, the name of the person to contact.
  • Companies House: the UK’s public register of companies. For a limited company, it confirms the registered business name and lists its directors, which is where a contact name may come from.

Why I use it

To send your business a short, relevant email offering my services. This is business-to-business outreach. The lawful basis under UK GDPR is legitimate interests: my interest in finding new clients, and a jeweller’s likely interest in hearing about a better way to handle enquiries or sell online.

I’ve weighed that against your privacy. I only use details published for business contact, I write only about your business, and a one-word reply stops it. I don’t use your details for anything else, I don’t make automated decisions about you, and I don’t sell or share them.

Who else handles it

No one else uses your details. They are stored in my email account and business records, and the companies that host those act only on my instructions. Because I work from South Africa, your details are held outside the UK. I protect them as this notice describes, wherever they are stored.

How long I keep it

  • If you don’t reply, or you’re not interested: I delete your details 12 months after my last email to you.
  • If you unsubscribe: I delete them straight away, except your email address. That goes on a do-not-contact list, so you are never emailed again.
  • If we work together: your details become part of your client record, covered by my main privacy notice.

How to stop the emails

Reply to any of my emails with the word “unsubscribe”. I will stop, and I won’t contact you again.

You have an absolute right to object to direct marketing, so you don’t need to give a reason. You can also ask me what I hold about you, ask me to correct it or ask me to delete it. Use the contact details above, and I’ll reply within one month.

Making a complaint

If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your details, please tell me first so I can put it right. You can also complain to the UK regulator, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or by calling 0303 123 1113.
