PrivacyPrivacy notice
How Karma-Tech handles your information when you visit this website, book a walkthrough or get in touch.
Last updated 13 October 2026. The specifics for each client project are agreed in writing before work begins.
Who is responsible
Karma-Tech (Pty) Ltd is run by Chad in Cape Town, South Africa, and is responsible for the personal information described here. For anything about your information, email chad@karmatech.co.za, or call or WhatsApp +27 68 029 5218.
What I collect and why
- When you visit this website, Vercel Web Analytics counts page views: the page, the site that sent you, and your country, device type and browser. It uses no cookies and does not identify you personally. It also counts which buttons are used (for example “Book a walkthrough” or “WhatsApp”) and whether the booking questions were completed, never what you answered. I use the totals to see which pages are useful (legitimate interest).
- The booking questions on the booking page run in your browser. Your answers are not saved on this website. If you go on to book, they are added to the booking notes in Cal.com; if you choose WhatsApp or email instead, they are written into a draft for you to review and send yourself.
- When you book a walkthrough, the booking calendar is provided by Cal.com and appears inside this page. Cal.com receives the details you enter (such as your name, email address and any notes) and the booking questions’ answers, and sends the confirmation and video link. I use them to prepare for and hold the call (steps at your request before a contract).
- When you contact me on WhatsApp, by phone or by email, I receive your name, number or email address and whatever you tell me about your business. I use it to reply, prepare a quote and, if you go ahead, deliver and support your project (legitimate interest, and steps at your request before a contract).
- Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser sends your IP address to Google when a page loads. Videos are served from this website, not from a video platform.
This website has no advertising cookies and no tracking pixels. I do not sell or share personal information for advertising.
If I emailed you first
I sometimes email jewellery businesses in the UK to offer my services, using the business contact details they publish on their own websites and at Companies House. The outreach privacy notice explains what I keep, why, for how long and how to stop it: reply “unsubscribe” to any of my emails.
Your customers’ data
If I build or look after an enquiry system or shop for you, some of your customers’ information passes through systems I set up or maintain. You decide how it is used, and I act only on your instructions, under a written agreement that sets out what is handled, by whom, for how long and how it is kept safe. Follow-up messages are only sent to customers who have opted in. Your store, payment account and customer records stay in your own name, and I never receive your customers’ card details or payments.
Who else handles it
- Vercel (United States): hosts this website and provides the visit statistics.
- Cal.com (United States): provides the booking calendar and sends booking confirmations.
- Google (United States): serves the fonts.
- WhatsApp, part of Meta: carries messages you send me on WhatsApp.
International transfers
I work from South Africa, and some of the services above are based in the United States, so your information may be handled outside the UK. Where UK data protection law applies, I put an appropriate safeguard in place for those transfers, and for client projects it is agreed with you in writing before work begins.
How long I keep it
I keep enquiries, bookings and client records only for as long as I need them to reply to you, deliver the work you ask for and meet legal record-keeping requirements such as tax records. After that they are deleted, or as agreed in your project’s written agreement.
Your rights
You can ask what information I hold about you, and ask me to correct or delete it, restrict how it is used, object to its use or give you a copy. Contact me using the details above; I’ll reply within one month.
- In the UK, these rights come from UK GDPR. If you are not happy with my response, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
- In South Africa, the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) applies, and you can complain to the Information Regulator at inforegulator.org.za.
Keeping it safe
This website is served only over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Please don’t send passwords, bank details or your customers’ personal information in a first message; we’ll agree a safe way to share anything a project needs.
